Communicate!

Business owners!  As the economy continues to struggle--amid this seemingly never-ending pandemic--it's understandable you're thinking of expanding your operations and/or services to attract more revenue.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. . .but should you do so, inform your insurance agent!  Chances are very good the expansion may not be covered under your existing policy--and you don't want to find out the hard way there's no coverage!  Here are but a few examples of how changing or altering a business could produce an insurance exposure that wouldn't be covered under the entity's existing policy:

*A general contractor that decides to add roofing to its construction services.

*A restaurant that obtains a liquor license and begins serving alcohol to patrons.

*An auto repair shop that begins buying and selling tires.

*A hair salon that suddenly obtains and installs a tanning booth.

*A department store that launches an online retail website.

A good rule of thumb to follow is to always keep your agent informed of your current business activities; if you're thinking about a new business venture, your agent needs to know!  Communicate!
